I'll be opening an etsy shop

I've been working hard because I want to open my first "etsy" shop. I've never sold my creations on "etsy" and I thought I'll give it a shot. I don't know what to expect but enjoy making my figures so much. It's a lot of hard work but fun as well.

I will be posting pictures soon after the new year. I'm really excited about it and can't wait. I'll keep you updated. And look forward to seeing your comments.

Happy New Year!

I wish you a happy and healthy new year! I hope 2012 is the best ever.

Fun day out at Jebel Hafeet

What did I do today? I went to Jebel Hafeet with some friends and my mom. Since my mom's been here visiting me from Florida I had to take her somewhere different. What better place than Jebel Hafeet.
Going up the mountain made me slightly dizzy. We made a few stops to take pictures and have a sandwich. It was windy as expected. Luckily we had jackets with us. It was different and great fun, most importantly my mom enjoyed it.

I took some awesome pictures with my blackberry. This shot is at the bottom of the mountain when we were coming down. You can see the UAE flag painted on the bench.

Happy Holidays!

I would like to wish everyone a happy holiday season, we hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday.

Check out "Bandit". Adorable pink eared mouse in need of a house. I'll make one for him in the near future.

"Asami" grey kitty

Typical day in the afternoon
"Asami" is grey kitty with rose collar. Can you tell I love cats?
When I was growing up I was always rescuing kittens. My parents got a surprise from me way to often. They'd go off to work and come back hearing meowing. Not knowing where it's coming from. After a while they learned to expect the unexpected from me. Later on I learned I have strong allergies from cats. Ironic, isn't it? I have a hard time not picking up a kitty. Now I make them from clay, no more allergies here.

Clay in google search

Every time I type "clay" in Google search, a picture of Clay Aiken pops up. I know he was a contestant on  "American Idol". But come on, can he show me a clay tutorial? I didn't think so. I wanted to join some clay forums and and was this||close to join a Clay Aiken fan forum. haha
Clay tutorial? (Picture credit:today.msnbc.msn.com)
I want tutorial from this clay:)
Imagine me, joining and having a question about air dry clay. His fans will think I'm a nut and will probably kick me out:)
Now I pay more attention what I click on. Even though I cannot be 100% sure that I haven't joined a Clay Aiken fan club. To all Clay Aiken fans, if you see a crazy girl asking for a tutorial on clay, just ignore.

I'm sure I'm not alone, right?

Here's "Biscuit" the birthday Pekingese

As promised I'm posting this week birthday girl. I've  been commissioned to make Peke. It's her birthday and her mommy wanted me to make her as close as possible to  her baby. I've included her favorite chew bone and her toy basket. As well as a heart shaped candle and pink glass candle holder. I really love "Biscuit" and love the way she turned out. Her mommy was thrilled when she got her.

My sweet baby Peke

I love my pekingese. He's just the most trusting being ever. He's like my baby. He listens most of the time but definitely has his own opinion of how and when things should be done. Yes, I'm still talking about my dog. If you have a peke, you know what I mean. A peke is like a person. Looks like a beautiful Persian cat in a way but with human like characteristics. Ah, I can go on and on. I just wanted to share him with you because I love him so much. He's helped me get through the hardest time in my life. He knows when I'm happy and when I'm sad. He stays by my side and protects me. What a loyal breed they are. And what  great friend I have.

And here's my peke.
Hanging out in the garden and looking out for cats.
P.S. He keeps my secrets:)

Sunny Dubai

I went to the Marina with friends and had an amazing time. The weather was beautiful as always, sunny sky, clear water. What more could we ask for?
Dubai, is mostly sunny and it hardly rains. Knowing that some people have snow right now in December and are freezing I can't complain of having sunshine almost 365 days a year.
.
While I was on the beach I took some shots of the gorgeous view I was blessed to have. Even though my blackberry camera didn't capture the moment the way it really was, I was still satisfied with this shot.
Dubai Marina
I don't get enough of the beach. Whenever I go to the sea I feel so at peace and relaxed. I can't wait to do it again.

Have you seen a bluer dog?  He's small and squishy.
made from polymer "squishy" clay.

I got my first hater's comment!

I was so excited today when I saw a comment in my mail box. Being new to all this, everything is exciting.
I opened my mail and to my surprise, I read my first hater's comment on YouTube! For a second I didn't know how to feel but then I laughed. I must be doing something right. Right? Oh, I loved it.

I didn't expect it but then I was  kind of like. Wow! If someone took time of their day to actually type anything, good or bad, that's great. Thank you. You're not going to ruin my day. You might even inspire me.

What are you doing with your time, Mr. Hater? Copying and pasting other people's hard work? I imagine you to be all alone and sad. When you say or do something negative, you only hurt yourself. So, I hope you're kinder to yourself because you deserve it.

I'm happy with my life and have so much to be grateful for. My future is looking great. I have lots of support and love.

This is how I look at it, haters can be a great confidence booster.  And I believe that haters make us better. So, keep those comments coming. Love the good but welcome anything.

I have survived so much that a little silly comment will only put a smile on my face. Thank you for humoring me. I can see I've grown so much as a person...lol

My question goes out to the wonderful positive and successful folks out there. How are you handling hater's comments?

xoxo

Pekingese Puppy

I love animals and especially dogs. Recently I was commissioned to do a Pekingese puppy. Boy, did I have fun creating her. Her name is "Biscuit" and she has the sweetest eyes ever. You, just can't say "no" to her.

She's black in color with two bows which remind me of biscuits, hence the name "Biscuit".
I will post pictures of her later because she's a surprise. But whoever has already seen her has fallen in love with her. Including me. lol It's been hard departing from her. However I'm happy that she's gone to the rightful owner.

I can't wait for all of you to see her. Keep an eye out. She'll be appearing soon.

"Shilo" the shy cat

"Shilo" is a little shy

Wearing a little gold tag and blue colar. She's made from light weight polymer clay.

Bouncy, squishy clay

This new clay that I have, is so much fun. It's hard to find so I was super dooper excited when I received mine.

When it dries it's bouncy and squishy. It's so much fun. Kids can drop it and it'll bounce back. Well, I'm no kid but I've been having fun dropping it, uhmmm by accident.
I'm really excited to do more stuff with it. It's a polymer clay, air dries and non toxic so it's perfectly safe to use by anyone.

It's perfect for making toys, ornaments, cakes, squishy donuts, animals even jewelry. It's very light weight so it can be hung anywhere.

I made a ball to try it out and the bounce back is pretty good. Not only is it fun to work with but it's fun to play with as well. Kids and adults alike will find themselves squishing it between their fingers.

Plus, there's no risk of ever breaking it if  "accidentally" dropped. Love, love this clay. My last two ornaments that were posted I made using this squishy clay.

If anyone is interested in this clay let me know.

Who wants a tutorial?

So here I am doing something that I love. It takes hours and days to create these guys, sometimes even longer. At times I can start and finish at one go other times I have to let it go for a while and come back to it.

I will be making tutorials of some of my figures. But if anybody is interested in learning how to do some of my other figurines send me a comment and if I have enough people interested I'll make a tutorial.

Enjoy,
PoodlePomPom
